THE FACULTY OF TROPICAL MEDICINE, MAHIDOL UNIVERSITY

Historical Background

The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University was established in 1960 and has been famous for its contribution on malaria treatment and elimination particularly in research, case management and training capacities. The Faculty of Tropical Medicine was designated as a WHO CC for Clinical Management of Malaria from 2003-2015. In the early year as WHO CC, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine has provided research, training and technical consultants to national and international institutes including WHO SEARO, WHO Mekong Malaria Program, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand and other related institutes to support national and WHO strategies toward malaria elimination.

From April 2020 to April 2024, the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol Univeristy has been designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Case Management, Training and Research on Malaria in order to strengthen WHO malaria programme in management, elimination and eradication of malaria efforts. The Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University is honor and proud to contribute with the World Health Organization and is now implementing all work plans according to Term of References (TORs) as a WHOCC in training, Research and Case Management aspects
